Said Sara’s “Then There You Are”: A Mesmerizing Acoustic Journey

269

Said Sara has recently released a new single “Then There You Are” which is a song about the messages we get from close ones who have recently passed away. This track skillfully combines traditional folk-rock with such modern mutations as indie-folk, its chords create an eternal concordance.

The song starts with deep, cold, and sharp sounds of hardly acoustic guitars, which give the song a very sad and thoughtful feeling. The perfectly clean sound of the guitar strings serves as a stable background to develop the vocal line and express the song’s intended emotion; additional to it, the glistening percussive elements add depth to the ample acoustics of the track. It is evidenced by Said Sara’s complex play with the guitar thus making the song great and bearing the hallmarks of a great artist – both in songwriting and lyrical depth.

While “Then There You Are” is not s vigorous song, it has an interesting sound overall. The push of singing is exactly right to put across the aesthetic of the song, so mesmerizing to shock the listener into showing a new side of their character they never knew existed. The words of the songs are contemplative: they gaze closer at a quotidian setting and encourage the listeners to think about their own lives.

Said Sara’s vocals are high and youthful, filled with the emotion, supported by the expressive and deep vibrato; each word is performed as if the singer is reflecting on the meaning of life. I like how it enriches the track with vocal harmonics and, at the same time, makes the sound both loud and personal.

Thus, “Then There You Are” is not just the worthy conclusion of the Dark Dark Dark’s musical opus, but also the haunting folk-prog ballad which firmly brings the genre back to its acoustic roots. The song has very passionate words and complex guitar playing which makes it a perfect example of Said Sara’s desire to create music that not only has significance for himself, but also to listeners.
