Hell to Pay is the frst song release of Owen’s new album Troots. This album will showcase to the world, a bombastic blend of roots reggae and traditional Irish music with a sprinkle of rock and country thrown into the mix.

This particular genre of music they call “Celtic Roots Reggae”. The music was written and produced by Rudy, who has spent much of his career touring and producing with many of Jamaica’s finest acts and artists such as Toots and the Maytels,Tarrus Riley, Kymani Marley among many others.

Owen and Rudy have performed at many reggae and ska festivals and events between Ireland and Germany with the band Owen Casey and the Vibe Tribe.

To be an Irish man singing reggae songs, Owen wanted to fnd a new and unique style and sound. It’s been his great ambition to fuse tribal Celtic melodies from his motherland, together with some hard hitting roots music from the other green island, Jamaica. The Atlantic emerald and the Caribbean pearl.
As is often custom in reggae music, Rudy produced the “Riddim” and Owen promptly wrote the lyrics and got to work on the vocals and harmony voicing.

Hell to Pay was written in the height of lockdowns when the world as we knew it, was turned on its head, when 2 weeks
turned into 2 years, when freedoms and friendships were fracturing under weight of uncertainty and doubt. The lyrical content is an expression of the concerns held by the song writer during this turbulent time but not all doom and gloom as was expressed in the chorus line “The devil gets his due like the dog that gets its day” portraying that “this too shall pass”
