Discovering the energetic jazz and gospel fusion of Jesse Emmoth’s “Amalia”

“Amalia” is the debut single from Jesse Emmoth’s upcoming album, “To not ask is to not act,” Recorded as a live take at The End studios in November 2022, the composition draws energy from modern jazz and gospel. Featuring talented musicians from the Malmö/Copenhagen region, the lineup includes Jesse Emmoth (piano), Jonas Due (trumpet), Hannes Bennich (saxophone), Simon Petersson (bass), and Marcus Karlsson (drums).

All post-production work was skillfully handled by Jesse Emmoth at Signalverket studios in Malmö, with mastering executed by Karl Klaseie at Øra mastering in Trondheim. Jesse shares his inspiration for “Amalia,” noting that the composition emerged during a meditative state, emphasizing the role of an endless stream of ideas available to a composer who opens up to listen. Experience the live rendition of this dynamic piece on stage starting this summer in 2024.
