In the vibrant world of Afrobeats, fast-rising music artiste Mohammed Salisu, better known as Drela, is poised to make a name for himself with his musical innovation and authenticity, as he carves new paths with his talent and unique blend of R&B and Afrobeats rhythms.

Growing up, Drela absorbed the diverse sounds in his environment, laying the groundwork for his musical odyssey. His journey took flight when he caught the interest of CashBoy Records, securing his place in the limelight and propelling him towards greatness.

For Drela, music is not just about beats and melodies, but a deeply personal and immersive experience. Influenced by the iconic Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, Burna Boy, Wizkid, Davido, among others, Drela weaves stories of joy, resilience and social consciousness, as he draws from his life’s tapestry.

“When I create music, it’s a journey of exploration and expression. I draw inspiration from my own experiences, emotions, and the world around me. Every song starts as a seed of an idea, often sparked by a fleeting moment or a powerful emotion. From there, I delve into the depths of my soul, crafting lyrics that resonate with authenticity and truth. Melodies come to me naturally, weaving themselves into the fabric of the song. It’s a delicate dance between inspiration and intuition, where each note is carefully placed to evoke a specific emotion or tell a particular story.” He says in a recent interview.

With the release of his debut EP, “Ice Cream Boy,” Drela takes listeners on a journey of self-discovery and exploration. From the infectious rhythms of the title track to the soul-stirring melodies of “Money on My Mind,” each song is a testament to his versatility and artistry.

“The EP “Ice Cream Boy” is my debut and it’s basically my way of introducing myself to the world. It’s a captivating musical journey that showcases my versatility and artistry.” He stated. Through his personal brand, Drela continues to spread love, positivity and empowerment, by sharing his struggles and uplifting others, inspiring a new generation of artists to do the same.
