ReKlakk is a Hungarian band with a focus on experimental soul-pop and fusion. Recently, the group launched a new studio single titled “New Hope,” which is currently available on all major streaming platforms.
Originally formed in 2001 as “Klakk,” the band came to life due to founding members Dan Csokmei and Csaba Csokmei, later joined by Adam Kollar. After relocating to the UK, the group adapted to a changing lineup, with Kollar eventually leaving in 2012. In 2021, Dan and Csaba redened their sound and identity, establishing ReKlakk with an experimental approach blending elements of funk, fusion, rap, pop, and progressive metal. “New Hope” is a perfect example of ReKlakk’s revitalized direction, showcasing the group’s commitment to creating “out of the box” music while maintaining a focus on structured songwriting and instrumental excellence.
The track reects on resilience and positivity, an anthem inspired by personal hardships and overcoming challenges. The song clocks in at 3 minutes and 54 seconds, and it immediately stands out for its organic sound. The bass line is
impressive, as it combines punch and bottom-end with melody and brightness that really cuts through the mix like a hot blade through butter. The drums have a very natural and tight sound, with a high-tuned snare that provides a lot of crack and punch to the mix, matching the intricacy of the hi-hats, always moving and bringing on the groove. The brass section, electric piano, and synth part add another brand of soulfulness to the mix, with inuences ranging from acid-jazz to funk and even Motown, among others. The vocals come in at about 1 minute and 16 seconds, bringing even more of a soulful vibe to the mix. The song has a lot of warmth, and the melodies are playful and relatable.
Recorded during the COVID-19 pandemic, the song includes contributions from vocalist Era CK and rapper Pua Meddy, emphasizing ReKlakk’s collaborative spirit. Released on September 27th, 2024, “New Hope” has already gained traction on several Spotify playlists, with plans to further reach listeners through social media campaigns. The single is accompanied by a music video that is available on YouTube. ReKlakk draws influence from artists like Jamiroquai, Primus, Mac Miller, and Rage Against the Machine, appealing to fans of genre-bending, experimental sounds with soulful melodies and timeless grooves and rhythms.
