Review of Seye Adelekan’s Most Recent Song, “Homerton Ocean View”

611

Seye Adelekan, a talented musician known for his work with the Gorillaz, has released a new song called “Homerton Ocean View” after his visually stunning “A River” film journey.

“Homerton Ocean View” song is different from his previous work. It is bedroom bossa nova number which serves as an ode to those blissful moments waking up next to your beloved on a leisurely day.

Seye Adelekan wrote “Homerton Ocean View” song when he moved to Homerton in the midst of winter and found himself grappling with the absence of sunlight. Though, he was simultaneously enveloped in the warmth of love with his partner he evoked that elusive feeling of summer even in the darkest of moments.

He then skillfully put his divergence of feelings at that moment  skillfully into the song’s structure, producing a story in which one’s affections for another can magically alter the  weather.

The track’s infectious 5/4 beat infuses it with a lighthearted charm which makes you listeners feel like you’re relaxing on a sandy beach, similar to listening to Astrud Gilberto’s beautiful melodies.

It’s inspired by the neighborhood of Homerton in London. The Sumptuous strings, added by the one and only Izzi Dunn from Demon Strings, are what really make “Homerton Ocean View” glow. Their complex arrangements transport you back in time, reminding you of a 1960s movie set tucked away by the sea.

In simple terms, “Homerton Ocean View” is a song that lets you escape into its lovely music and stories. It shows Seye Adelekan’s talent and makes us excited for his upcoming EP, “The River.”
