Lykabettus, the second single from Greek-jazz fusion band KAVOS’ latest album Athina, draws inspiration from Lykabettus Hill, the highest point in metropolitan Athens. This track encapsulates the urban groove, spirit, and energy of the city, transporting listeners to the vibrant streets of Athens.
KAVOS is a Greek-jazz fusion group based in Canberra, Australia, founded in 2023 by Constantine Campbell during his doctoral studies. Campbell, a Greek Australian, seeks to explore his ethnic heritage by blending Greek rebetiko music with his passion for jazz.
Athina, KAVOS’ second album, features original music inspired by the city of Athens. Each tune on the album is composed on-site at various locations in Athens, capturing the essence and atmosphere of the city. The album’s sound is described as “groovy and atmospheric, Greekadelic and Psychehellenic.”
Campbell, on saxophones and vocals, is joined by talented Canberra musicians including Lachlan Coventry on bouzouki and guitar, Llewellyn Osborne on violin, Christopher Pound on bass, and Nicholas McBride on drums.
The album Athina is available on all streaming platforms, allowing listeners to experience the unique fusion of Greek and jazz influences created by KAVOS. To access the album, visit https://kavos.hearnow.com/athina.
