The album “献给AI的思考” is a silent, meditative album by musician-engineer 彭俐客 (Aleksandr Podkhaliuzin). It is a travel diary made into music: the story was written down, after which it was transformed into songs with piano, guitar, and modern, AI-assisted sounds blended in. The album comes across as one who is getting used to learning to live a life well away home – full of bewilderment, little wonders, and heartbreak.
The first song, “迷路的老外- Lost Foreigner”, begins softly with piano and warm, diary-type vocals. The night streets can be almost visualised and the little uncertain striding of a newcomer can be felt. Midway, the piece that stands out is “裂缝 – The Rift” – peaceful at first, then distorting and panicking. It resembles the heart opening up. Subsequent songs such as 沉沥- Falling and 不同星球的过客 alternate between utter hopelessness and bizarre, sparkling optimism The clever use of science images in the “量子纠缠-Quantum Entanglement”, elucidates a strong, bizarre relationship. The heartfelt desire of the different in “平行的梦-Parallel Dreams” gives a gentle, dreamy wish.
The very special thing about this album is the combination of human emotion and attentive technology. The human voice and the real instruments are never substituted by the AI elements, which just add texture to them. The lyrics maintain a distinct heartfelt continuum; homesickness, clumsyness, small pleasures, and the gradual process of seeking a place of belonging.
