9 O’Clock Nasty Reinvents “King Thing” with a Bold Remix

352

The follow-up to 2023’s “King Thing” finds 9 O’Clock Nasty back in the saddle, with this classy, funky update on the original. This remix is not only sharper, bolder and more dynamic but proved the band grew up and is creative enough.

What was earlier a groovy bass and drums number is balanced with the addition of more melody and sharper satire in the new version. In “King Thing”, one can easily identify a simple but catchy guitar melody, reverberated drums and an unusual for punk but incredibly catchy beat. The bass and drums now overlap perfectly, something once considered as rough is now very fluid and hits with purpose.

”King Thing” is a penetration into essence of arrogance, power and egocentricity with the overdose of irony. It’s a song about being superior to the rest and expecting the society to acknowledge your superior ability. The lyrics of this song are biting and sarcastic and this song also focuses on the identity, status, value, and all other strange things that people find important in today’s hi-tech world – that’s why this is as good as a brain-stimulating song could be.

This re-recorded and remixed version shows the band’s affection for this tune. Because they’ve invested all they’ve acquired into it, a fine and vibrant product is produced. The middle section brings other soft, resonant tunes, they are useful to expand the composition’s palette and give listeners something to watch for.

This new “King Thing” is pure satire at its best, full of permits and punches. It’s a flash and there is no question that 9 O’Clock Nasty has come up with another song that’s as catchy as it is witty. All hail the king!
