473

Destin Zinga Kanza is from the city of Pointe Noire, Congo-Brazzaville. He is an all-rounder, hence why he is a Renaissance man. He has gone from studying computer science and communication in the city of Abidjan in Côte d’Ivoire to working as multimedia designer, writer, illustrator, comic creator and musician based in Rouennaise area of France.

But at that time his career in journalism taking him on to work in satirical journalism, especially with the Ivorian newspaper, Gbich!, where he created and designed sections like Sergeant Detogo and Paul Krokeurz, music has always been Bob’s passion.

Bob started his musical career pretty early as he mastered the fundamentals of music theory under the watchful eye of his father who served as a church organist. Bob learned to play a synthesizer and a guitar at home and in a church where his two younger brothers also lived. From time to time, he tried to channel his musical talent which gave birth to a new style and sound of his.

Subsequently, after the pandemic made Bob reconsider what matters, he got the urge to target his passion – creating his own music. Showing the power of borrowing from his rich cultural heritage and music styles, Bob would compose a lot of songs that touch on a wide range of emotions, from the happy and romantic to the sad and let-down. As important as his music is his faith in God, which is not seeing God as a religious phenomenon, but an inward presence which preaches kindness and generosity to others.

Bob came up with a new idea called ZKRumba which he has been experimenting with. This inventive fusion of zouk, konpa, and Congolese rumba portrays the height of Bob’s originality and desire to bridge traditional music genres.

He pursues his style which is a molding of the sounds and sing the heartfelt words, and takes the listeners on a journey of discovering, reflection, and finally celebration of life with lot of its experiences.
