Limbo Kids Returns with “Sirensong” EP

423

Oxford’s Limbo Kids have broken their decade-long silence with their new “Sirensong” EP, which is a compilation of three songs that represents a wonderful comeback of the band where they added their flavor of indie pop melodies with modern synth and guitar tunes.

The EP was Recorded primarily in Limbo Loft v2.0 in Bandon, Co. Cork, and mixed by James Hitchman back in Oxford. This EP has James Hitchman of Alphabet Backwards on vocals as well as guitars, Mark Stephenson on bass, and Paul Davidson on drums and percussion.

The song ‘Dopamine,’ serves as the first track, with its tem posit and catchy melody. This is a soft indie pop tune that has splendid harmony, tinny electric guitars, drums that are strategically placed and creative. The verses are beautifully conveyed owing to the ambient vocals they use and the seamless introduction of each new track makes it sound very organic and it feels like it was made for the daytime radio.

Next to “Dopamine”, the song “A Better Part” combines an ear worm melody with sharp guitars and proves the band’s abilities in making populär anthems. It has a closely linked to rock beat and uses a synthesizer.

The EP is rounded off by “Riptide” which, in contrast, is a slower song with some rather thoughtful lyrics. “Riptide” gives the EP a heartfelt close in its unapologetic, tear-jerker moment. The backgrounds feature a myriad of joyous harmonious overwhelming vocals towards the end of each selection as if from an angel, and the addition of the harmonies towards the end is pure brilliance as they put a perfect ending to the set.

‘Sirensong’ is a perfect EP and a great way for Limbo Kids to come back with a melody that is challenging and refreshing to classify under the genre of indie pop. Every track is well-developed, and the skills of the band in the creation of strong hooklines and interesting musical textures are evident. This EP not only looks back at they have done but also towards what they will continue to do with their indie music style.
