Indy Fontaine Sings About Heartbreak In her new song “Odiar Y Querer

“Odiar y Querer,” the latest single from her debut album, “Moments Of My Life,” sees Indy Fontaine delving into the dualities of love through her music. The song and album are available on all digital platforms.

The track, written and composed by the Cuban-American singer-songwriter, explores the delicate boundary between love and hate and the ease of crossing that line. A piano and vocal ballad is the perfect setting for Indy to pour out her talent in interpretation.

“As a teenager, I fell in love with a man 20 years my senior. His charisma and life experience captivated many, and I was thrilled by his attention. However, it was more of an illusion than reality, and it took me years to realize that. Reflecting on that period, I found inspiration in the journey from infatuation to empowerment. I’m now able to look back with clarity, free from those past emotions, and understand the experience for what it was. This song isn’t sad because I’m no longer in pain—I’m proud of my growth,” shares Indy.

Along with the release, Indy presents the music video filmed in El Castillo de la Tropical under the direction of Michelle Hernandez. The audiovisual production features two locations and a forest, where Indy and her piano are the story’s protagonists.

“Filming ‘Odiar y Querer’ was a truly beautiful experience. I loved Michelle’s idea of incorporating fire, as it represents the dual nature of love—beautiful yet dangerous. The lighting and setting created the perfect ambiance to complement the song’s theme of a love-hate confession. The location, El Castillo de la Tropical, is an architectural gem built in 1911. Originally designed as a playhouse and residence for the La Tropical Gardens administrator, the building, inspired by the Alhambra in Granada, adds a unique charm unlike any other place in Cuba.”

Indy’s debut album, “Moments Of My Life,” marked a significant moment in her career as it was her first time performing songs she had written herself. She also served as the album’s executive producer, and worked with Mike Fahey, who contributed production elements and took charge of engineering and mixing. Beth Cohen co-produced Indy’s vocal performance on a few of the English songs, and Pete Lyman from Infrasonic Sound mastered the album.

“Odiar y Querer” follows a list of previously released singles including “Eres Luz,” which recently received a certification from YouTube for surpassing 1 million views, becoming Indy’s first video to reach the milestone. The album also includes “Devil in Angel Skin,” “El Amor No Alcanza,” “Capricho de Dos,” and “Is This Love”
which have received radio airplay on stations in different countries, including Mexico, Spain, and Argentina, as well as “Paula de Abril,” a song with a personal weight in which Indy expresses her gratitude and love for her daughter.

At the beginning of the year, Indy made a gift to her homeland, Cuba, by releasing her first album in physical format. She also held a sold out performance at Havana’s Teatro Hall of the National Museum of Fine Arts of Cuba.
