phen E. Johnson’s ‘Close to You for Christmas’ is a Cute Romantic Holiday Tune

358

Blending big band and memorable vocal jazz melodies with poignant lyrics, Stephen E. Johnson builds a little romance into the Christmas season. But, instead of using a typical ballad, he uses an upbeat jazz format to add a little energy into a young lady’s pursuit of her Mr. Right.

Seattle-based songwriter Stephen E. Johnson released ‘Close to You for Christmas’, an energetic danceable tune, last
December, so it didn’t get wide Christmas exposure. The song builds a romantic story of a young woman hoping to get her magical “I do” on Christmas. This track promises to resonate with fans of heartfelt Christmas music.

The song is nostalgic and is in simple jazz combo style with a compelling trumpet solo. It is a part of Steve’s focus on Christmas music. Steve enjoys vocal jazz styles reminiscent of the 40’s and 50’s and wanted a fun vocal holiday tune for this season.

Steve Johnson is a musician, songwriter, composer, and arranger residing in the Pacific Northwest. Dr. Johnson is
Berklee-trained and arranges for small to mid-sized ensembles, bands, and orchestras. His music has a Latin influence but his songs also reflect smooth jazz and American pop styles. Much of his music has a strong Christian message reflecting his religious foundation.
