In time for this holiday season music duo Kantisto have released a baroque-inspired rendition of the holiday classic song “We Three Kings” featuring harmonious vocals and eclectic instruments. The song and music video are available on all streaming platforms now.

“We Three Kings” was written by John H. Hopkins, Jr. in 1857 and is among America’s earliest Christmas carols. “We wanted to perform the song as it was originally intended,” says Tom Bralley, “using three vocal soloists to sing alone and together.”

Unusual for the time Hopkins composed both the words and the music for the song. “We Three Kings” was first performed at a Christmas pageant in New York City. “The song was written originally for a theatrical presentation,” adds Aaron Meza, “and we wanted to get an ancient vibe so we chose a few interesting instruments like Irish whistle and harpsichord.”

Kantisto is releasing a music video for the song and it features stunning AI-generated images some bordering on artwork. “We’re combining old and new music elements so why not use today’s technology to create Old World imagery to help tell the story anew,” says the duo.
