Live, Raw, and Soulful: The All’s Eye Shines on “Saturday Sessions”

115

Saturday Sessions performed by The All’s eye are a compelling live recording in which the true spirit of music can be felt as it is, raw, and true-to-heart. This passionate threesome, Ari Joshua on guitar and vocals, Ben Atkind on drums, and Kris Yunker on organ and vocals, recorded the two-track EP live at Barbershop Studios for Emmy winning producer Matt Rifino’s Saturday Sessions series. What’s comes out of it is a highly immersive experience and you feel like you are there with them in the room.

The two songs were recorded in one take with a little change thereafter. This gives it a natural energy that is hard to pretend for. The trio glides easily from one type of sound—soul, psychedelic rock, gospel, jazz and even blue grass-like traces—while maintaining the groove hard-hitting and persistent.

Gramama is a beautiful dedication to Ari’s late grandmother, Granny Queenie. With her gospel-like mood and even pace, the song celebrates her spirit, and wisdom of her ancestors. It is the meditation on family love, memory and spiritual power.

“Say What You Wanna Say” on the other hand is confident and burning. Written for a different session originally, this new version brings psychedelic rock and jazz and makes it feel fresh and exciting. The song teaches us to speak our truth and be true to ourselves; sharing feelings and being honest with ourselves.

Together with awesome music, Saturday Sessions is packaged with artistic visuals and video, therefore, being a complete affair. There’s no question this trio has powerful chemistry, its out put is contemplative yet exhilarating.

With more music incoming and live shows to come, The All’s Eye show they are a band you should keep an eye upon and Saturday Sessions is where to start.
