Anonymous Singer, Peter Lake is here again with another one titled ‘Comfort Cross’.
He claimed that this song wasn’t intended to be a song but rather a lengthy poetry that he penned at night.
“This is the only song I’ve written that originally wasn’t meant to be a song. It was a long poem I wrote one night. At night I get the lonesomes. The sadness comes to me, and it feels like a blizzard. The blizzard of ice and cold is the memory of Her. She was always a night owl. She was nocturnal. Although I always made jokes and tried to cheer her up, she had stretches of depression, and there was no welcome that could make her smile. In this way, her mental state made her a Sphinx, because if I could not make her feel better—if I could not answer her riddle—it was over. She would erase us.
And she did—one day we were erased. I couldn’t understand it. Even now as I write these words for Groover, I’m starting to have some tears because I don’t understand, even today, how she could erase us. When she did erase us, it left holes in my mind. No matter the pain and difficulty, I still—even today—wish she would come back. Fill the holes of my mind. Please come back this time.
But she isn’t coming back. So I feel long looks, with gladness close to me—but not IN me. In these moments, what do you do? I wish for Comfort’s Cross. Please come to me at night. Blizzards are passing through my mind, and I guess it’s some kind of prayer to the universe to heal and experience comfort once again. Comfort’s Cross, please be mine”
