“Rematilha” arrives accompanied by a clip inspired by Kate Bush.

Singer-songwriter Christine Valença releases “Rematilha”, a single which announces its debut album, released in the second semester of 2022. The song, which is accompanied by a video clip, reveals a striking trait within the artist’s creative process.

“I wrote this song in a difficult period that I went through during a romantic breakup. it was something that I didn’t expect to happen and on the way to healing, I started to put on paper what I was feeling about having no other option but to reinvent” – says Christine.

“Rematilha” (Christine Valença) also stands out for being the cornerstone of the album. Christine recorded a demo of the song in piano and voice format and she sent it to producer Elísio Freitas. He liked what he heard and immediately thought of a more dynamic, contemporary arrangement that would give more strength to the composition. They entered the studio and the connection between the two was immediate. A musical affinity grew as they worked on other songs from the singer’s authorial repertoire. “I found in Elísio the ideal partner to shape my compositions. He can capture my ideas and references. The original plan was to record a single or two, but our partnership worked so well that it eventually evolved into a full-length album. And still well, because releasing an album is something I’ve always dreamed of” – she comments.

The recordings took place at Estúdio 86 (Rio de Janeiro). Christine Valencia (voice and piano) was accompanied by Lúcio Vieira (drums) and Elísio Freitas (guitar, guitar and bass), who also did the mixing. Bruno Giorgi was responsible for mastering.

The music video was filmed in Rio, directed by João F. Maciel and produced by Zanzibar Films.

“For the video for ‘Rematilha’, I was inspired by Kate Bush and her dancing videos, with those cool choreographies and a good alternative. We managed to gather a body of dancers from my heart, all longtime friends. Everything was beautiful!” – adds Christine Valença.
