Afrodelic is a musical project led by guitarist and producer Victor Diawara, featuring a blend of African music and electronic rhythms. The debut album, “Dusunkun Hakili,” released in June 2022, pays tribute to Diawara’s father, renowned Malian writer and poet Gaoussou Diawara. The majority of the album’s tracks were recorded in Bamako with local musicians and singers, before being augmented with electronic sounds and beats in Diawara’s studio in Lithuania. Afrodelic has already supported a number of well-known acts (including Fatoumata Diawara, Tamikrest, JoyCut and many others) and performed in over ten countries. The band’s music has been praised by various outlets, with one magazine describing the album as a mix of “poetry, engagement and a sincere desire to bring people together through music.”
