Norwegian singer-songwriter Terje Gravdal returns with his new single “Talking Head,” a thoughtful and timely country/folk track that reflects on modern communication, politics, and personal awareness. The song is the first of three country/folk releases and will appear on his fifth EP, Beautiful Lies, planned for release in the first half of 2026.
“Talking Head” explores the idea of speaking without truly listening, sensing, or connecting. Terje points to people who hold one-sided views—often seen in politics—where opinions are repeated without understanding or real contact with everyday people. These “talking heads” follow party lines, fixed ideologies, and social circles that reflect only their own beliefs, leaving little room for debate or genuine discussion.
What makes the song especially interesting is its personal angle. Inspired by a comment from his wife, who encouraged him to write a song about himself, Terje turned the mirror inward. The result is a track that feels honest and self-aware, blending political observation with personal reflection.
Musically, the song stays true to its country/folk roots. It was produced and recorded at The Norwegian Sound Studio by David Michelsen and Marius Bergseth, who also contributed to songwriting, backing vocals, and instrumentation. The production is clean, warm, and supportive of the message, while the mastering by Peter Michelsen gives the track a polished finish.
With “Talking Head,” Terje Gravdal delivers a smart and engaging song that encourages listeners to think, listen, and truly connect beyond empty words.
