Asta Bria Shines Bright with Hypnotic Dance-Pop Single “Dragonfly”

135

With her new single, the Angelwing singer Asta Bria is opening her wings wide and ready to flutter away with her newest release, Dragonfly, a lush dreaming song, and a beautiful and rich slice of dance-pop. A big change of sound, this song, which is produced by legendary hitmaker Rob Davis and mixed by Carl Ward, is a total change of pace to what Bria has been, and it works perfectly.

Starting with the first beat, Dragonfly drags you into its thumping rhythm and sounding space. It is deep and multifaceted, and thus has the festival-ready vibe, yet the voice of Asta Bria is truly spectacular and dominates the track. She sounds smooth, slow and almost whispery as her vocals glide over the pounding beat like a breeze. The delivery is quiet but sensual, serene and yet very strong, like a breath of air in a crowded dancefloor.

It is repetitive, of course, but of course in a good way, catchy and hypnotic. It keeps on revolving in your head and does not give up. However, the track manages not to be obnoxious as so many dance tracks do. It is rather dynamic but at the same time gentle and emotional. The layers are delicate beauty and Asta allows their beauty to radiate in her smooth tones.

The most thrilling part of it, however, is the way in which Asta Bria seems to leave her typical style of downtempo behind and completely gives in to this strongly empowering and rather upbeat style. She comes across confident and expressive and fully comfortable in this new sonic world. This song shows that she is not shy of pushing out her boundaries and she does so in a most graceful and meaningful way.

Dragonfly is a experience. It is an uplifting yet intimate experience that is like dancing through the thoughts in your mind under strobing lights. Should this be the road that Asta Bria will go, we are prepared to go there with her.
