Independent artist and singer-songwriter Cheryl Craigie is proud to release a reimagined cover of Taylor Swift’s “I’m Only Me When I’m With You.” With a softer piano arrangement and slower tempo, Craigie’s rendition transforms the energetic original into a heartfelt, mature ballad.
“I have wanted to do a cover of a Taylor Swift song for quite some time now. She is so prolific, it was hard to choose the right one,” said Cheryl. “Taylor wrote ‘I’m Only Me When I’m With You’ when she was just 13 years old. I wanted to take the song in a new direction. The slower tempo gives it a mature, heartfelt feeling.”
“I’m Only Me When I’m With You” is Craigie’s eighth release. A versatile singer-songwriter who likes to explore all music genres, including folk, rock, country, and even rap, Cheryl seamlessly blends her diverse influences into every project. With three original songs among her releases, she has earned critical acclaim for her ability to craft music that resonates deeply with her audience. Cheryl’s most recent original song, “Migraine,” has gained widespread attention for its effort to shed light on living with the chronic and debilitating pain of migraines – a disease still not well understood or remedied by modern medicine.
Craigie’s talent and dedication to creating earnest music that connects with listeners comes through in all her music, regardless of the genre. All vocals in “I’m Only Me When I’m With You” are performed by Cheryl and demonstrate her vocal range. This single once again highlights Cheryl’s gift for crafting music that touches the hearts of her audience.
