Élisée Sangaré, crafted an instrumental inspired by the classic Jamaican call & response. The idea: a vibrant musical conversation between a singer and a toaster.
With ISHA BEL, the voice was there – now it was just about finding the perfect match.
Enter Rico from O.B.F, who dropped a name – and not just any name: CHAKA DEMUS. Yes, that Chaka Demus, one half of the legendary duo Chaka Demus & Pliers, behind one of the biggest dancehall hits of all time, “Murder She Wrote.” A true raggamuffin icon, with an unmistakable flow. Seen!
To everyone’s surprise, CHAKA DEMUS jumped on board and agreed to lay down vocals on the track, stepping out of his usual lane to explore a more electronic, hybrid vibe. A few back-and-forths later, the track was in the bag. Hugo aka King Doudou put the finishing touches on the production, while Grit, an experimental jazz keyboardist, added warm, organic textures on the organ.
The result? A bold, electro-future-euphoric anthem — a full-on surge of good vibes. A track rooted as much in Kingston as in Europe’s club scene, where the heartbeat of reggae meets the pulse of electronic music.
