Dream Thief takes us through A Journey of Transformation with new single “Chrysalis”

381

Chrysalis is Dream Thief’s latest track and it is perfectly embodying the nature of the change with the help of impressive synthesizes. The content and the lyrics of the song was written and sung by Mars Atlas. It is a banger for followers of the uncertain road of self-searching and development, both warmly emotional and technically experimental.

From the moment one hears the first few notes in “Chrysalis”, one becomes engrossed in the meditative mood of the music until it transforms into a grand and sweeping orchestral piece. Using inspiration from artists such as Flume, What So Not, and Grimes the track is impossible to classify as a specific genre while elating the use of alt-electronic, cinematic orchestra and emotional breakthroughs. The end product is a sound design that is panoramic in nature but is also highly personal at the same time.

The song structure reflects the process of change this song is about. Starting with piano and the first of the album’s many layers of vocals, it rises steadily into a wall-of-sound of electronica, which injects calm moments with thrilling peaks. The production leaks beyond normal expectation on the sort of song structures, and neatly into an all-encompassing opulence that addresses the spirit.

With the lyrics “Chrysalis” gives its audience a picture of evolution where people leave behind their old selves and come out stronger. From gentle lyrics to the outright defiant, a beauty of vulnerability compliments the song’s empowering message throughout the song’s progression.

This bimodal nature is also seen in the song instrumentation, alternating between melodic and soft filled, to full force loud. The hymn like introduction suddenly goes into pulsating beats and a synthesizer then backing off to a reflective mode, take the listener to an ethereal plane.

Truly I think Dream Thief has birthed something unique and beautiful with “Chrysalis” which can make anyone who hears it aspire to come out a butterfly.
