DWQ is a Dublin-based musician, singer and songwriter.
His first solo EP, Balance was a fully instrumental electronic venture. Since then he has started to go back to his roots a little by picking up the guitar again alongside the synths.
This blended electronic indie rock stems from his influences which include Glass Animals, Phantogram, The Stone Roses, Sylvan Esso, Doves, The Charlatans, Aphex Twin, Orbital, Kelly Lee Owens, and Jamie XX.
The Balance EP was followed by the single Thousandths, an electronic and guitar protest track against the streaming industry with the lyrics ‘why don’t you give me a few
thousandths of cents’ ringing out hauntingly through its catchy electronic indie vibe. His
last single Requiem Dance has a smooth rolling intro that breaks into gritty guitars and reverb-soaked vocals with a raw and melodic sound.
DWQs latest single Vamping came out in January 2023. This is a song he wrote for his two young daughters. DWQ: ’They never really listen to me, will they ever? But they love listening to music, so I thought I would try to get through to them that way, a message or something they can have forever and whenever they want to hear it.’
It’s heartfelt lyrics and haunting melody offer up positive salutations and wishes in his own unique way through a raw and emotional performance.
DWQ has a 3 more singles to release in 2023. All of which will be from his upcoming
album Choone Evolute which will be released later in the year.
