Edward Buadee: A Reggae Legacy Continues

641

Edward Buadee’s journey is a testament to resilience, creativity, and musical evolution. Born in Ghana, he launched his career at just 16 before moving to Belgium in 1984 as an economic refugee. Settling in Ghent, he co-founded the legendary Skyblasters alongside Patrick De Witte (PDW) in 1986, marking the birth of Belgium’s first authentic reggae band.

Skyblasters shaped the Belgian reggae scene, sharing the stage with icons like Pablo Moses, Lee Perry, Jimmy Cliff, Youssou N’Dour, The Wailers, Black Uhuru, Steel Pulse, and more. Though the band disbanded in the early ‘90s, they reunited in 2005 as a tribute to PDW and even landed a radio hit in 2020 with “Just Another Day”—a success overshadowed by the pandemic’s concert cancellations.

Buadee’s solo career emerged in the late ‘90s, carrying forward his signature reggae spirit under the name “BUADEE”. In 2024, he returned to Ghana for a creative revival, recording two new singles, video clips, and a full album.

The world premiere of this new chapter will take place at De Centrale in Ghent, Belgium, on April 30, 2025—a night that promises to be a celebration of roots, rhythm, and a lifelong reggae journey. Don’t miss it!
