Bergen, Norway-based singer/songwriter Eide Olsen is here with a new song called ‘Don’t even try’ and it accompanied video
Don´t Even Try”, the new single from Eide
Olsen, is delicate pop confection from the top shelf. The song is a taste of the upcomingbalbum, “My Dear», and has been mastered by Ryan Smith (Adele, Beyonce, Coldplay). The collaboration with Eirik Grønner (Kurt Nilsen, Endre Nordvik) has given Eide Olsen abmore modern and “poppish” expression than what we know from previous releases.
“Don´t Even Try” effortlessly nods to mid 90s
references such as The Cardigans, where
small soulful, melodic details and a steady
arrangement provide balance to a slightly
heartbreaking text. “Following your heart is said to be a good thing”, begins Eide Olsen, “but sometimes it is perhaps the stupidest thing you can do”. He explains: “If the person you love is unfaithful to you, it is probably much wiser to use your head than your heart. It’s not just easy, because the will to forgive can be great if the love was experienced as real”.
“Don’t Even Try” may be a song with bitter
undertones, but above all it tells the story of
an impossible alliance where love meets
despair. “Having to explain or rationalize
infidelity quickly turns into a minefield of lies,” says Eide Olsen. “At the same time, you do this so that a betrayal feels less painful.»
