EP Review: AMGTASK Turns Pain into Power on Pain In My Heart

128

In his newest EP, Pain In My Heart, Orlando-based artist AMGTASK presents honest and emotional escapade. Having the background in East Atlanta and the inspirational roots in the underground scene in Florida, this project, consisting of six tracks, perfectly combines hip-hop and R&B to express the true stories, convey the inner depth, and bring emotions to the raw and uncompromised honesty.

The first song, Comfort, makes it clear in the beginning. It is reflective, emotional and soft. AMGTASK does not make an attempt to be a hardcore tough guy here, he talks straight to the heart. His voice is not agitated but you can tell the pain and strength of the words. It is a noise of a person who has experienced much but managed to stand up anyway.

Every song of the EP contributes to the history of AMGTASK. One of the most brilliant songs on the album is “Sacrifice” and “Same One” that touch on the themes of loyalty, maturing, and the cost of achievement. The words are well considered and the rhythms are also nice and do not divert attention away. Sacrifice especially is something you think about late at night because you consider all the things you have lost on your way to your present position.

“Problems” and “Oh My” pace the EP down and give a more vulnerable impression whereas the last song of the EP, “Betrayal” finishes it off with heavy contemplation on how you have been deceived by those you believed in. It is soft and atmospheric production that leaves AMGTASK the opportunity to convey all the emotions.

Pain In My Heart is not only music but also a therapy, a journal and a letter to anyone who has experienced something real. By AMGTASK, it is possible to see that pain does not need to break you. Now and then it turns out the fire of beauty.

This EP is worth listening to in case you are crazy about a sincere, intelligent, and emotional music.
