Erik Connor Unveils his “The Interdimensional Microwave” Album

395

The work of Erik Connor named “The Interdimensional Microwave” is an unusual combination of the music experiment and the folklore in action. This album comprises 17 tracks that belong to the demanding genre of electronic music and feature elements of jazz fusion, references to the sound of video games, and complex, but mesmerizing noise.

Mimicking the plot of a scientist who transforms a microwave into an interdimensional transport, each track presents a unique world waiting behind the door. His inspirations vary from Yellow Magic Orchestra, Peter Gabriel and Osamu Sato, a video game composer, which give some unpredictable work in the overall sound.

The first track is named “The Interdimensional Microwave” and give a listener an idea what they are going to hear because sound is rather pulsing and consists of intergalactic elements. One song “Multifaceted” takes experiments on different layers, while another, “The Infinite Loop”, enchants the audience with tracks’ repetition. The fun and amusing aspects of the music are conveyed in songs like Temperature Up/Trousers Down and March of the Underdone Potatoes employing humorous and inventive narratives in songs.

For the introspective, dreamlier tunes such ‘Parallel Paths’ and ‘Symbiote’, go deeper as well for passionate expressions; for brief but sharp microwaves of experimentalism, there is ‘30+ Sec’. The second half of the album never fails to awe: Transmission Coefficient and Microwave Madness is a mad gallop that is simply great.

Connor’s skills laid out by technicality while never ceasing to use his creativity as a weapon of mass destruction make “The Interdimensional Microwave” a listen like a dance. From “Sad Ol’ Turnips” to “Crystal Oscillator,” this album takes listeners through several moods and time and doesn’t lose interest in the process.
