Erik Wink has just released his latest track, “Inconsolable,” featuring lead vocalist Caitlin McGrath. This original bossa nova tune combines Caitlin’s soulful voice with smooth Latin-jazzy instrumentals, creating a catchy and memorable soundscape. The lyrics tell the story of a young woman who feels unheard and mistreated by her partner but stays with them despite feeling manipulated.
The idea for “Inconsolable” began when Erik was playing jazz chords on the guitar, and Caitlin joined in with her singing. Erik envisioned the song as an up-tempo bossa nova tune, and Caitlin contributed lyric ideas for the chorus. After some time, Erik started producing more music and reached out to Caitlin to revisit the song idea. They worked together in Erik’s studio space, with Caitlin writing the remaining lyrics as Erik recorded guitars and bass. In just two focused sessions, they completed the song, capturing an upbeat, groovy, and jazzy vibe that perfectly complements Caitlin’s rich, soulful vocal tone.
