The Swedish indie band Favourite Squeeze releases their debut track: “The Things We Do for Life.” A song that explores existential themes of life and death, loss and hope – subjects at the core of the band’s musical expression.
Inspired by artists such as Peter Gabriel, Pink Floyd, and Annie Lennox, Favourite Squeeze creates a sonic landscape where melancholy meets strength. The debut single is no exception – a moving story about what we do for our loved ones, our children, and ourselves, wrapped in melodies that both comfort and challenge.
“We want to write music that doesn’t just entertain, but makes people pause and reflect on life. When we played the song for friends, it triggered strong emotions in people who have experienced difficult pregnancies, the loss of loved ones, or seen friends struggle. That is exactly the kind of reaction we hope for,” says the band.
Favourite Squeeze consists of two musicians who have chosen to keep a low visual profile. Instead, they let the music speak. The band name carries both warmth and pain – a “favourite squeeze” can be the one you cherish the most, but also a reminder that life sometimes squeezes us hard.
