Freidrich$ Unveils “Temptation / Slave 4 U” , A Dual Tribute and Subversion on YouTube

9

Experimental R&B musician and performance artist Freidrich$ releases Temptation / Slave 4 U, a bold, genre-blurring track accompanied by a cinematic new music video. Now streaming on YouTube, the piece intertwines homage, critique, and personal narrative, bridging two iconic songs from radically different corners of pop history.

A conceptual fusion, Temptation / Slave 4 U takes inspiration from Britney Spears’ provocative early-2000s hit and New Order’s post-punk dance classic. In both sound and story, Freidrich$
reframes the original works through his own sonic lens—transforming their cultural baggage and
emotional resonance into something altogether new.

“This song is a play on Britney Spears’ ‘Slave 4 U,’ a song that I thought was weird and un-PC when I heard it when it came out, and it’s also a tribute to New Order’s ‘Temptation,’ a song I could not stop listening to, and I speculate to why in my lyrics,” says Freidrich$. The result is a layered, hypnotic performance that moves between intimate confession and driving rhythm, pairing lush, atmospheric production with visual storytelling that amplifies the tension between desire, memory, and self-reflection.
