Reggae and dub legends Gaudi and Don Letts have teamed up to put their distinctive spin on “Raccoons,” a track from Caravan Palace’s latest album, “Gangbusters Melody Club”. The collaboration sees the duo infuse the pioneering Parisians’ music with their signature dub sound, creating a fresh take on one of the standout tracks from the album.
Gaudi, a Grammy-nominated producer known for his work with icons like Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, The Orb, and Horace Andy, and Don Letts, a Grammy-winning film director, musician, and radio broadcaster, first joined forces on Don’s solo album “Outta Sync” in 2023. The project forged a strong musical bond between them, leading to successful remixes for EMF, Dub Pistols, and UB40. Now, they’ve turned their attention to Caravan Palace, reimagining “Raccoons” with a dub twist that adds depth and texture to the original.
“Raccoons” is part of Caravan Palace’s fifth studio album, *Gangbusters Melody Club*, which has been praised for its dancefloor appeal and innovative sound. Letts, who has been championing the track on his BBC Radio 6 Music show, saw the potential to take it in a new direction, and together with Gaudi, they’ve created a version that is both unexpected and inspired.
This remix continues the evolution of Caravan Palace’s music, blending their electro-swing roots with the rich, rhythmic world of dub, proving once again that innovation knows no bounds.
