UK based Nigerian artist Great Adamz comes back with his addictive new song, Funke. It has a bright, feel-good afrobeat sound, with some catchy rhythms and playful words and melodic grooves mixed together to make a song that you just can not resist dancing to. There is an exuberant mood already established on the very first beat of the song, and there is no reason not to call the tune celebratory and upbeat.

The skillfully layed combination of Yoruba and English lyrics allows this piece to be not only culturally rich but to create a balance between local and international audience. The chorus is easily remembered and the delivery of the story is tongue in cheek yet one that audiences are familiar with, quickly making it a song that has a wide appeal. Adams whispery vocals flow on top of bright synths, neutral instrumentation, and strong percussion notes to create a positive and engulfs a listener in the listening experience.

Musically, Funke is club worthy. Its beats breathe with energy, the tunes glow with warmth and all the layers complement to invite listeners to join the groove. Be it at a party or in your car or just when having a vibe at home, the song has undoubted power to make you move.

Behind the mic, Great Adamz takes the stage with a signification bravado and fluidity. His mellow, smooth, soft voice has something both intimate and bright about it so it feels right with the upbeat sound of instruments. He drops the playfulness in his delivery, which is in line with the message that people should always have fun and live in the moment.

Beyond being a song, there is an experience at the core of Funke. It is a reminder of the power of music to lift up, connect, and make people feel happy. Funke has an irresistible rhythm and a quality of global appeal to it that further adds to the reasons that the music of Great Adamz attracts so many people regardless of their nationalities.

It is afrobeat at its best: groovy, colourful, and memorable. Funke is not only supposed to be heard but also felt.
