Jace Mastra has released his new EP Home, Heart & Soul, which is a highly personal and emotional release that spawned right out of his home studio in Florida. Every slab feels real and real, allowing the listeners to keep a close eye on Jace’s thoughts on the subject of love, pain, and self-worth. Drawing inspiration from artistes such as Juice WRLD, Post Malone, Eminem, and Chris Brown for example, Mastra combines his emo rap, trap and soulful autotuned vocals to produce a sound that touches the heart.
The best songs of the EP: “Text Me When You Get Home” and “Stuck In A Daze,” touch upon the feelings of loneliness, confusion, ups and downs of the relationships. These tracks seem like late-night talks, or journal entries – raw, honest and full of feeling. Jace says the songs depict the mixture of sentiments that he and other people run through, thus, easy for anyone experiencing similar things to identify with.
It is the way in which Home, Heart & Soul was made that makes it special. Jace did everything himself and at the start of each song, he freestyle’s over a beat to get his flow. Then, he would go back, edit, and polish the lyrics. His best friend Mir was involved in giving feedback and finishing touches, demonstrating the bond and team effort involved in the music.
This DIY process provides the EP with this intimate, homespun feel. It is not over-fashioned – but that just makes it real. The effort and passion come out of every word and beat.
Home, Heat & Soul is a therapy in sound. It is for those nights when you have to feel and not just to hear. Hereby, Jace Mastra demonstrates he’s an artist worth watching – honest, creative, true to his story.
