Jake Gray Gets Playful with New Single “I Got Lei’d” – A Sunny, Toe-Tapping Tale of Paradise Gone Slightly Sideways

76

Indie rock singer-songwriter Jake Gray returns with a cheeky new single, “I Got Lei’d”.  This track is the fifth release from Gray’s Unsupervised. Packed with breezy island vibes and a beat that practically demands movement, “I Got Lei’d” is a sun-drenched escapade that’s “mostly true”—and entirely irresistible.

With an upbeat, infectious groove and signature tongue-in-cheek lyrics, Gray spins a vivid story of his misadventures in Hawaii—complete with questionable choices, unexpected romance, and, of course, a few tropical drinks too many. It’s a song that invites listeners to let loose and laugh at life’s more absurd moments.

“It’s a celebration of spontaneity, vacation blunders, and the joy of not taking yourself too seriously,” says Gray. “Sometimes the best stories come from the most ridiculous situations—and yes, I really did get lei’d. Several times, actually.”

“I Got Lei’d” blends indie country with a splash of island flair, delivering a catchy rhythm that captures the spirit of summer all year long. Following the emotional depth of tracks like “I’m A Mess” and “Where I Might Land”, this playful new single showcases Gray’s versatility and his ability to mix wit with sincerity.

“I Got Lei’d” offers a fresh glimpse into the Unsupervised album’s carefree, boundary-pushing tone. The project continues Gray’s exploration of identity, chaos, and connection—this time with a little more sunblock and a lot more ukulele.
