Jake Major launched a breakthrough in his musical path through his debut EP titled “The Amsterdam Tapes Vol. 1”. The EP marks his debut into trance and dance music as well as his initial album incorporating vocals throughout all the tracks. The musical inspiration for this EP derives from Amsterdam because the city serves as a hub for its celebrated electronic music culture. At Amsterdam Jake dedicated his time to embrace its atmospheric essence which led him back to Newcastle upon Tyne to record the music.
The EP combines retro elements from ‘90s rave music with ’80s synth beats and contemporary electronic music styles. The musical production expresses the experience of being lost in nightclub rhythms while letting thoughts about existence flow through your mind.
The first song, “These Pills of Lust and Longing,” starts the EP with hypnotic synth sounds and a strong beat. The composition delivers club atmosphere along with its stern alert regarding drug dangers. The dreamy energetic nature of this song creates an effective start to the album.

Other songs like “Euphoria Peloria” and “How Can It Be?” continue the story. Euphoria Peloria creates a dreamy floating atmosphere through its musical composition and How Can It Be? brings forward a heavy dance beat. The song introduces a forceful dance rhythm and passionate lyricism to share feelings about loneliness and inner strength.
The last song of the project is “Vigilante” which represents a modernized rendition of a previous Jake composition. The track possesses an intense depth due to its synth foundations alongside its spectacular cinematic features. Through this song Jake displays his artistic development by combining sophisticated electronic music elements to forge his distinctive musical style.
Through “The Amsterdam Tapes, Vol. 1” Jake Major presents a musical connection between his previous works and present tracks. Electronic music fans from both experienced and novice groups will appreciate the EP for its strong melodies and powerful emotional combinations and dynamic rhythm patterns.
