Kantisto Unveils Modern Folk-Rock Rendition of Holiday Classic “What Child Is This?”

212

Folk-rock duo Kantisto has released a vibrant, harmony-rich reimagining of the beloved Christmas carol “What Child Is This?” celebrating the spirit and wonder of the holiday season. The track blends the timeless melody of Greensleeves with fresh lyrics, rhythmic folk-rock energy, and signature vocal harmonies. Originally written as the poem “The Manger Throne” by William Dix, “What Child Is This?” remains a cherished holiday standard.

Kantisto’s new version introduces updated lyrics and a memorable chorus, offering a heartfelt and contemporary take meant for listeners to sing and celebrate together. “We approached this carol with deep reverence and joy,” the duo shares. “By refreshing the lyrics and adding a modern folk-rock arrangement, we hope families and choirs alike will find themselves singing along. We wish everyone a peaceful and joyful holiday season.”

The recording features contributions from Erick Burdette (bass, vocals), Padraic Conroy (Irish whistles), and Art Mendoza (percussion), adding rich world-music textures to the arrangement.
