Lineaquattro Returns with “Highway Run”: A Bold New Direction

496

After quite some time now, Lineaquattro is back with their seventh single “Highway Run. “ The song is new from the band’s signature smooth jazz tunes and is instead a groove number where only the basic instruments – keyboards, bass, and drums – take center stage, and therefore, do not have much of the intricate solos listeners are accustomed to.

In “Highway Run,” Lineaquattro lean their pieces down to songs’ bare harmonic foundations, while also trying out new, unanticipated sounds. The single shows a long and continuous piece of pure radiophonic music as it was first conceived for the making of a car selling advertisement, as is its pace and finish.

Drummer Gianpaolo Gallian spoke of the single as not being very far from the band’s prior works but as a new experiment in what can be done with their sound. Remember its constructed around compositions and comprehensively adheres to the ‘less is more’ philosophy but the result is an album that while not challenging, feels recognisably new.

This track perfectly proves Lineaquattro’s potential for the growth and development, despite the noticeable change of the stylistic direction, they still remain recognizable.
