LysJoy Strips Down Emotions in Live Version of “Eleki Mingi”

89

Belgian-Congolese singer LysJoy (Nancy Kandala) delivers a deeply moving performance with the live rendition of Eleki Mingi, one of the most vulnerable tracks from her debut album Fololo (2024). Recorded at Piano Maene in Brussels, this intimate version pairs LysJoy’s expressive vocals with the delicate interplay of piano and cello, bringing the song’s emotional core to the forefront.

Eleki Mingi—which translates to “It’s too much” in Lingala—is a raw confession of hypersensitivity and emotional overwhelm, capturing the struggles of navigating a world that often asks people, especially women, to suppress their feelings. LysJoy’s live performance transforms the song into a suspended moment of honesty and self-acceptance, making it resonate on a deeply personal level.

With her unique blend of Afro-soul, jazz, RnB, and Congolese rumba, LysJoy continues to carve a space where cultural richness meets heartfelt storytelling, creating music that heals, empowers, and connects.
