Record-Setting Musician Sarkodie’s list of accomplishments

Sarkodie, a stage name for Michael Owusu Addo, a rapper, singer, and businessman from Tema, Ghana, was born on July 10, 1988. He has received various honors for his services to the Ghanaian music scene.

Sarkodie, the fourth of his parents’ five children, was nurtured in Koforidua until his parents moved to Tema, where he began his education. He attended Tema Methodist Day Senior High School before enrolling in IPMC, where he graduated with a degree in graphic design. Sarkodie got his start in the music industry as an underground rapper, competing in Kasahare Level, a well-known rap competition hosted by Adom FM. While taking part in the aforementioned tournament, he crossed paths with his former manager Duncan Williams of Duncwills Entertainment. Additionally, he met musicians Castro and Edem, who introduced him to renowned record producer Hammer of the Last Two. Hammer gave Sarkodie permission to record two songs for Edem’s debut album Regime after being impressed by his rap skills.

Sarkodie is the only artist to have received both the most nominations and victories at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards. He has received 70 nominations, and he has won 26 of them.

The Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs), formerly known by their non-sponsored name the Ghana Music Awards until 2013, are an annual music awards ceremony in Ghana that were started in 1999 by CharterHouse, a local event organizer and planner company, to honor the “outstanding contributions of Ghanaian musicians to the growth and expansion of its associated industry.”

He was the first African Artist to sell out the Apollo Theatre.
2015’s ‘History in the Making’ blockbuster performance by Sarkodie, which took place on August 8 at New York’s Apollo Theater, was sold out to capacity.
Hurtig & Seamon’s Music Hall was the name of the theater when it first opened its doors in 1913. George Keister created it in the neo-classical style.

Only Sarkodie is an African rapper who has received the most BET nominations and wins. He has been nominated for 4 awards, and he has won 2. In 2012, he was named the best international act, and at the 2019 BET Hiphop Awards, he was named the best international flow artist.

Additionally, as a new category, he was the first recipient of BET’s Best International Flow Artiste.
When the VGMA Best Rapper of the Year category was first introduced in 2010, Sarkodie was the first artist to win it. He is the only rapper to have five victories in this category.
In the years 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016, and 2018, he took first place.

First musician and rapper from west Africa to sell out Indigo at the 02 is Sarkodie. The occasion occurred on March 11, 2016.
The Indigo at The O2 is the ideal London venue for private hire for parties, club nights, variety shows, gigs, comedy, gaming, and more. It can accommodate up to 1800 people standing and up to 2800 people seated. Access to the Private VIP lounge, which can accommodate 350 people standing, is available for an extra touch of luxury.

Out of 41 Nominations, he is the only artist to have received 20 4syte Music Video honors.
Sarkodie is the African rapper with the most awards. From 191 nominations, he has received 107 awards.
The only rapper from Ghana to receive the MTV African Music Award for Best rapper is Sarkodie. He has one win and three nominations.
He is the only rapper from Ghana to have received three Headies nominations and win awards.

These are some of the achievements Sarkodie has achieved since he started his music career in 2005 and its still counting since he hasnt left the music scene. He will be dropping his 8th Studio album on the 11th of November 2022. He has already released Labadi off the album which features Ghanaian act King Promise.
