Review: 3 Leagues To Rome’s “Last Supper”

356

Pittsburgh natives, 3 Leagues To Rome, has recently dropped their latest track entitled “Last Supper” – a deep, reflective song that captures the anxiety and facade of contemporary life fully-formed, wrapped within the ambience of rock and grunge that constitutes the group’s identity. “Last Supper” captures a society in the state of a deteriorating economy, a looming war, high inflation rate, and the inability to speak against injustice due to possible cancellation.

The lyrics reflects the emotional state of anxiety and disillusion, which effectively depicts periods of heightened vulnerability and instability. These fears may be mitigated by keeping up appearances, which is reflected in the lyrics, which embody the song’s premise of the normal facade amidst turmoil.

‘’Last Supper’’  starts with an intro which blends scorching snare shots and strong tom fills from Brian Mutchler on the drums. The heavy use of guitars to provide mainly the rhythm and a great use of lead guitars played with a lot of technicality makes this an excellent instrumental full of energy and adequately mixed.

Steve performed vocally in harmony with other instruments, interpret the freedom and the struggle, in a voice and character full of passion. His voice, accompanied by the highest possible choirs, makes a full build of the song’s harmony. Finally, the setting of “Last Supper” is sharp and effective, providing strong focus on each aspect with a great degree of detail. For the most part the keyboards are subdued and lie dormant in the backdrop but add an extra layer to the songs that makes the whole production richer and interesting.

“Last Supper” is an engaging track that maintains hearty and melodic vocal chants with a striking and bouncy beat. The guitar accompaniment starts soaring, drums kick in and the vocal performance is impassioned; all together, it firmly asserts this idea which defines today’s world as it is. ‘’Last Supper’’ is shown to depict the various facets of the current society which is experiencing anxieties such as the possibility of war, economic pressures and being afraid to share opinions in the wake of cancel culture.
