Ryan Petitjean, the pop singer/songwriter from Teesside known for tracks Criminal and OBSESSED, has just released his long awaited new single, Heartless.
Heartless is a brooding pop anthem that deep dives into the complexities of love, emotional turmoil and the desire to feel needed by your partner. With its soaring vocals, cut throat lyrics, and driving bass-lines, Heartless is set to resonate with listeners who’ve experienced falling for someone who is emotionally unavailable. It details how the desperation of wanting their affection can lead to unhealthy coping mechanisms (such as wanting them to cry for you) because at least that way it at least shows that they do care.
Ryan explains, “Heartless is a completely new sound for me, sonically and lyrically, it captures the emotions of feeling unwanted whilst also acting as a letter to myself and the role I play by suppressing my own emotions. I wanted to create something that felt both relatable and cathartic whilst having a fresh sound.” The single marks the latest chapter in Ryan’s musical journey, following on from his debut single ‘Criminal’ and follow-up track ‘OBSESSED’, and marks his first release in over a year.
Known for their pop-leaning sound and ability to dive into pop’s many sub-genres, he continues to take his listeners to new areas sonically with Heartless.
