Seafarers Unveil Their Poignant Third Album “Another State”

75

London-based chamber-pop group Seafarers have finally dropped the third album “Another State”. The album is made up of ten songs each of which is richly and vividly narrative and songs telling the stories of individuals moving from one place to another, finding themselves in new cities, losing friends, facing ethical issues thrown at them by life.

The mood of the album starts from the first song “Bedwetters”.  The song is full of lush and dynamics. For the instrument it is absolutely vital contributing musically to Kinsella’s heartfelt vocals providing listeners with a passage into the realm of feelings. The title track “Another State” comes next with some inspiring lyrics for people to embrace themselves and face life.

From the alt-folk to the indie pop, dream pop, synth rock experimentations of “Another State”, Seafarers bring an eclectic collection of soundscapes into their world. These syntheses establish a musical environment that seems complex and plain at the same time. Some of these songs are of philosophical topic such as in “Televangelists” the issue of religion and technology is philosophically tackled while in “Melissa” a beautiful elative emotion on the subject of dear friend turned into sorrow resulting from deviation of time.

But one cannot ignore the catchy vocal cords in “Everything I’d Do (to Get a Hold on You)” marked by powerful instruments and the perfect solos as well as the rather romantic way done in “A Little Loss” marked by piano at the end and a loud heartwearing trumpet ending.

Thus, at the core of the work called “Another State” listeners will be introduced with an interesting investigation of human nature and relationships by seafarers. From the poetic lyrics in the songs to the fusion of genre used in production and the emotional narratives in the songs, it is an album that is both gritty and classy and for Seafarers, this put them in a position to explain life in as many ways as possible through music.
