The UK producer Sonnee has just produced the short but effective three track EP innershy that combines emotions and energy in a gorgeous union. On this project he has gathered all his already released singles Pollen and Heartfalls (with Khazali) and a completely new song, u+i -emotional core of the EP, to which one cannot refrain.
Innershy is personal even at the beginning. It is a club version of the electronic music but with a strong emotional burden. You are able to dance to it but it touches something real too.
With light, positive moods, and easy-going sounding “Pollen” is a good start, whereas the warmer lyrics help to get the soulful effect in the song called “Heartfalls”. It is a song that softly tuggles at your heart strings with the production being heavy on bell like sounds and an overall sound that you could weave in and out of.
The last, and perhaps the best, song is entitled u+i where everything ties up. It seems that it is the most emotional part of the project. The sound is tense in a strange way the same type that you experience when you are so close and yet a bit remote. Sonnee surrounds warm synthesizers with a heavy, persistent bassline, peppered with hallowed vocals that resound the desire to hang on when everything seems to be not going in the right direction.
The production with Sonnee is simply beautiful. It is descriptive and engulfing, yet never over-edited, there is soul there. innershy has demonstrated that dance music does not have to make a choice between rhythm and emotion. What Sonbee has come up with is one that can sound just as good as it is being loudly played at a party, as it is heard in your headphones when you are in the quietest of times.
As a result of this release Sonnee remains one of the most promising talents to come out of the UK electronic scene, at least in the coming time.
