“West Hill Road”, the first track from The All’s Eye Trio, is an exciting ride into jazz, funk and rock music. The seven minutes instrumental track begins with an energetic riff and the crowd is set for an amazing moment. Right from the word go, the keys by Kris Yunker, guitar by Ari Joshua, and the drums by Ben Atkind are well patterned, and well laid down, both compact and expansive.
As we have seen earlier it provides a dynamic get up and groove feel with each and every instrument moving from section to section. The drums are intoxicating and the bass is catchy but it is on the keys/guitar section that the real beauty takes place. It is sometimes provided in most of the melodies, and sometimes they work as the rythym, which gives the liberty to the guitar. This e поможет us to understand why people who perform the same works often are given turns or breaks, like a jazz tune does, where each artist gets to do what he wishes.
Combining components of Stax and Motown with chamming acid jazz highs, influences of fusion “West Hill Road” prove the outstanding teamwork as well as versatility of the trio. The track also show how mere consistent elements keep a certain unity to the arrangement while the repetition provided freedom for improvisation on how it will sound next.
As a first release of the newly formed The All’s Eye Trio, “West Hill Road” is an energetic journey through playful rhythms and playful melodies. So if you are a funk rhythm enthusiast, blues groove follower, or progressive rocker, “West Hill Road” is for you. What a great example of how the trio is endless in imagination and how they masterfully can blend different styles together.
