Fresh off their first San Diego Music Award nomination for best indie/folk song, The Beard and The Bird duo are back from the studio with their latest release, “My Dearest Eloise.” This romantic ballad contains nostalgic lyrics and sounds, reminiscent of an early 19th century love story. With guitar, stand up bass, saw, banjo and accordion, the mix whisks the listener to the days of olde, and a long distance story of longing and love.

Jon (Vocals, Guitar) and Cat (Vocals, Upright Bass) pair their unique style of.Western swing with influences of Bob Wills and Django Rhinehardt. They enlisted the talents of Nathan Rivera (Accordion) and Tony Econom (Drums) to fill out the arrangement during a recording session in the Fall of 2024 at the Afterhours Studio in Ramona.

The Beard and The Bird have been performing together since 2021. They appear regularly at venues throughout Southern California and on the East Coast around Buffalo, New York. Their musical genres span from 1920’s western swing to modern pop/folk with a Rockabilly twist, with both starting their musical careers in their small-town’s punk scene. “I played one live show in our friend’s back yard.

It was kind of a big deal,” Cat says with a laugh, “but I might never had met Jon if I  hadn’t broken a string with my angry punk music.” In addition to The Beard and The Bird’s musical appearances together, Jon also performs as a solo musician. He is the owner of the Ramona Music Center, RMC Afterhours Studio, Hasz Media Inc. and C&G Guitars. Aside from music production, sound engineering, session work and private instruction on multiple instruments, he is also co-founder of the Ramona Music Alliance established in2022.
