These days, love and romantic relationships are rife with infidelity, imperfection, and a host of other horrible problems. This is something that Jess Stewart talks about in her third single, “Prince Charming (Went to Hell).”
The passionate love that we fantasize about when we are young is the subject of this bright and energetic song. It demonstrates that dating in the real world is not without its flaws, but it also pushes us to cherish who we are. The song has truthful yet funny lyrics where Jess debunks the idea that the Prince Charming kind of love that we watched in Disney movies is not true. She did this right by laying things bare through her poetic lyrics.
The music has a consistent rhythm, and there are vibrant synthesizer sounds spread throughout the song. Stewart’s lively singing is in the background. Although ‘Prince Charming (Went To Hell)’ has a lively and cheerful pop style, the addition of a sultry saxophone makes the melody more soulful and appealing. The saxophone smoothly becomes part of the music, creating a mood, and then it becomes more prominent with a powerful jazz climax, taking over the song.
Jess takes a lot of inspiration from artists like Ariana Grande and Caity Baser. She is becoming a strong and unique voice in the music scene, creating her own distinctive path in today’s pop music.
What I admire most about the song is how Jess poured out the lyrics; she created some melodies with her sweet vocals, which are easy to memorise. Also, how she dueted at some point made me love the song the most. Jess showed how creative she is and sounded so mature in this song. The song has a beautiful context, and it is beautifully arranged.
I second the message she poured into the song: love life these days are not romantic anymore but it is full of stress. “Prince Charming (Went to Hell) will let you be yourself when you listen.
