Review: Zeke Tha Freak – Better With You

20

Better With You is a sleek and sexually attractive hip-hop, R&B, soul, and trap melody brought by Zeke Tha Freak on his new single, which manages to strike the right tones. Right when the song begins with the soft tones of house party and chords of a Spanish guitar, you find yourself in a comfortable relaxed atmosphere that is easy to relate, yet cinematic in nature.

It is full of detail- dreamy melodies, warm beats as well as a contagious groove that produces a nostalgic effect associated with early 2000s R&B. One could compare it to the attraction of Mac Miller, the soul in Anderson .Paak and the cool in Childish Gambino all rolled into a single tune. But Zeke does not follow suit – he adds his personality, his flavor and his lyrical cadence where casual confidence adds all but a fresh feel to this song.

Better With You is a love letter and is lyrically good time with one who you love. Zeke looks back at late nights in the city as he considers dancing, drinking, and vibing but also enjoys a more nourishing bond. His poetry is romantic but not so sweet, and is perfectly balanced between vibe and emotion. His voice fits so well in the rhythmic pattern, charming and heartfelt, it is quite easy to understand and hear every line.

The versatility of this song is what is actually quite different about it. It is a summer anthem, a late night cruiser and a heart felt expression all together. What Zeke Tha Freak does with regard to integrating genres so effortlessly is demonstrate skill in not only his music but his keen knowledge of how to make a song memorable.

Better With You is one of those pieces that as soon as you hear it you want to scroll through it again not only because it sounds good, but because it feels good as well. This is a very special offering in the form of a timeless and a classic chill-out anthem given by Zeke Tha Freak that stays even after the music is gone.
