Grenadian singer & songwriter, Chrissel has
released her debut single entitled “Favourite Song”, via record label VonChay Inc.
“Favourite Song” is an ode to forgotten first loves, which is gracefully delivered in a rendition of indubitably soulful vocals; that are sung with music that can be waltzed to. In this 3-minute musical presentation, Chrissel waltzes listeners through her personal experience, as she tells her story of the kind of love that teaches many lessons, but just is not meant to last forever.
This song was written by Chrissel with two meanings in mind. She initially began writing the song based on an experience she had, which was about a guy whom she liked, but as they grew up, they grew apart. This is an experience which made Chrissel realise that their current differences should not stop her from appreciating the memories that they made together, so now she has encapsulated those
memories in a song.
As Chrissel continued to write the song, it became more than just about this particular experience, as she came to the realisation that the lyrics could also represent other situations in her life, where she has had to let go of a person or thing from her past, before moving forward. This marriage of these two meanings, along with the analogy of a song that Chrissel has played on repeat, but eventually stopped playing, formed the premise for the creation of “Favourite Song”.
This unique analogy also paved the way for the completion of “Favourite Song”, because it made Chrissel realise that songs like those are the ones that bring back the most memories.
Upon completing this song, Chrissel deduced that her personal experience might just be something that other persons have experienced as well, so she decided to bless the ears of her listeners with her “Favourite Song”, which she hopes will become their favourite song.
