Getting stuck in the middle of decision making is very difficult to deal with especially when you are entangled with society norms. Chicago artist who goes by the stage name Spread such situation in his new song titled “Target Practice”
This song is about avoiding being caught up in narrow-minded thought processes that pit good against evil, right against wrong, and so on. It is about pursuing your own path and not getting caught up in such thought processes. The lyrics of the song are therefore about freeing your mind about what the society think and expect but rather follow what your instinct and faith tells you.
It is heart-wrenching when you know what you feel within you is right and will lead you to your destination but here is society norms looking at your face.
Spread established a record label almost ten years ago named Just Due Records but he did not know how to go about it and now he is back to it and this the first release from the record label.
The verse and chorus were first composed over a rhythm by another producer. However, Spread recorded a live drum recording over the beat and chose to convert it into a song. At the studio, he had only vocals and drums where Jeremy played the bass and Demian played the trumpet.
The drums played on this song went well with Spread’s vocals and that is one thing that made me love the song. I was dumbfounded by how the trumpets were played; it wasn’t played for a long time but that few times they backed Spread’s vocals is amazing and made the song stand out.
Spread also relaxed for the beat and flowed perfectly with his heavy and bold vocals. He rapped and rhymed perfectly throughout the song and his wordplay is on point and meaningful. Spread and his collaborators, Damien and Jeremy made the song standout with how they arranged everything on the song and how they went about the whole production.
